 The newly launched member
missions program is alive and well in Florida. Many churches have
already sent members to South America. Others are in the middle of
planning for members to take trips. Some ideas for your program include
classes, personal testimonies, pictures of every disciple, exchange of
ministers, heart to heart and face-to-face interaction, individual
correspondence (pen pals). Special days of
fasting and praying could be set. We want every member to know what
their gift is and how their gift can help encourage the disciples in
South America. These South America churches
desperately need training, inspiration, and relationships. An
appropriate characterization of the ‘pairing' relationship is that of
adopted adult children. This
means we don't have to restrict funds, but rather we are in a
relationship. The goal is for each domestic congregation to make sure
that the needs of their "adopted" foreign church are being adequately
met. Another way to help is by evaluating their needs, doing everything
possible to send the needed finances there, and then spending these
finances in a useful and productive way.
